Spectacles Made of Water?
Yes you heard correctly. Glasses with water lenses. A British inventor by the name of Josh Silver has invented this innovative product.
Based on the optical principle that the fatter the lens the more powerful it becomes; Silver, a former professor of physics at Oxford University has devised a pair of glasses which allow the wearer to change with power of the lens themself by adjusting the amount of fluid in the lens.
DIY Specs
The glasses are fitted with tough plastic lenses which contain circular sacs of fluid. These sacs have a small syringe attached which is connected to the arm of the spectacles. The wearer adjusts the level of fluid in the sacs untll his vision is clear. Then he twists the screw to cut of the fluid supply and the syringe is removed. A very simple process which means that people are able to create glasses that work without the need of an optical prescription.

Can I get a pair?
Whilst this product can be mass produced and can be individually tuned; the developed world may not yet be ready for this innovation. The glasses themselves have a very chunky appearance and would probably at this stage of development appeal to the mass market. Silver's goal is to help the millions of people in developing countries who suffer from poor eyesight.
